CELEBRATING THE CAR OF THE YEAR FINALIST, THE MAZDA3
March 12 2021, Yorkdale Dufferin Mazda
Mazda believes our cars are fantastic, and we’re not the only ones. For 2021, the Automobile Journalists of Canada (AJAC) has named the Mazda3 as one of three finalists in the Best Mid-Size Car category, with the winner still to be announced at the time of writing.
More than 250 vehicles were under consideration, despite the pandemic. The finalists were chosen by journalists, who selected cars that were either redesigned or significantly refreshed from years past.
In honour of this nomination, let’s celebrate some of the Mazda3’s best upgrades from recent years to see what made auto journalists so excited.
MORE MUSCLE
The Mazda3 is now available with a Skyactiv-G2.5 T Dynamic Turbo engine on certain trims that makes this sedan considerably more muscular than previous iterations. The Mazda3 was always exciting and fun to drive for its remarkable handling and control on the road, but adding more power is a substantial improvement.
You’ll feel it from the first instant you touch the pedal, so contact Yorkdale Dufferin Mazda in Toronto and the GTA to book a test drive.
I-ACTIV AWD
The 2021 Mazda3 is one of the only sedans in Canada available with i-Activ All Wheel Drive (AWD), making it a beast of a car in a winter snowstorm or when roads are slick in the rain. Mazda’s AWD system is particularly advanced, using sensors to monitor exterior conditions, so the vehicle knows when to turn on the windshield wipers or to send more torque to a back wheel when it’s experiencing slippage.
The i-Activ system understands and responds to the driver’s intentions. It can sense how sharply the driver is accelerating, turning the steering wheel, or applying the brakes, and then adjust the car accordingly.
Mazda has found a way to make its AWD system 43% lighter, making the entire vehicle more efficient. You’ll drive more surefootedly at all times and make it through adverse weather safely and more confidently. With Mazda, drivers feel a strong connection between themselves, the road, and their vehicle. That’s never been more accurate than for the new Mazda3 for 2021.
AWARD-WINNING HISTORY
The Mazda3 is anything but a stranger to winning awards. In fact, the Mazda3 has won the award for Best Small Car in Canada six previous times, as recently as 2020.
In 2020, the Mazda3 also won the prestigious World Car Design of the Year, an award decided by an international group of 86 automotive journalists from 25 different countries. We will have to wait and see if Mazda can repeat the feat this year!
