The importance of safety cannot be overlooked when picking out a new vehicle. How can drivers be assured that the car they’re buying is truly safe?
Most modern vehicles offer some type of advanced safety technology, which provides one important dimension of overall safety. The 2021 Mazda CX-30 has earned the IIHS’ Top Safety Pick award, confirming that safety is built throughout the vehicle and not just in its advanced technological features.
ABOUT THE IIHS
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is an American non-profit founded in 1959 dedicated to reducing deaths, injuries and property damage due to motor vehicle crashes. The IIHS is a scientific and educational organization that pursues its mandate by scientific studies of insurance data.
The IIHS works in tandem with the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI), poring over data to determine a vehicle’s safety level. Vehicle safety ratings are based on two factors: how well a vehicle protects its occupants in a crash and the technology that prevents a crash or lessons its severity.
WHAT FEATURES THE IIHS INSPECTS
The IIHS evaluates a vehicle’s safety level based on six tests: moderate overlap front; driver-side small overlap front; passenger-side small overlap front; side; roof strength; head restraints and seats. They conduct low- and moderate-speed track tests of vehicles with automatic braking systems.
Essentially, the durability and strength of the vehicles’ materials are put to the test, to determine how it holds up in the event of a collision. The 2021 Mazda CX-30 was 2020’s Top Safety Pick, confirming that the vehicle’s guts are durable and strong from head to toe by winning “good” ratings in all six IIHS evaluations.
“Good” is the highest rating possible, the best confirmation you have a smart and safe vehicle you’ll feel confident driving for years.
ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY PREVENTS COLLISIONS
Withstanding a collision is an important last resort, but it’s even better when the vehicle can steer clear of a crash. Mazda’s CX-30 is loaded with advanced, proactive safety technology.
The i-Activsense safety features keep drivers aware of road hazards, and it comes standard with all models of CX-30. Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and even rain-sensing windshield wipers are just some of the technologies that help you drive safely and with more confidence in everyday situations.
Whether you’re driving in bumper to bumper gridlock or changing lanes on the highway, the CX-30 is a smart, safe and reliable vehicle.
